Know Your Customers

Know Your Customers is the first thing you learn in business school. It’s also a core message of many of the presentations at PIE. On Thursday I was taught a hands-on lesson about customer insights right here at my desk at PIE.

It was the evening of TechCrawl, an open door event of the local tech industry. PIE kept its doors open till late into the night. At some point I was approached by a young man:

“I need to talk to you.”

We like PIE

As you may have seen over at the Portland Incubator Experiment (PIE) or Portland Business Journal blogs, We were selected as one of six companies to participate in the 2014 PIE class.

One thing we know already, is that there are some awesome other people and businesses here that we now get to call classmates.  You should check them out.

But what does this mean for us?  Well… it means we’re coming out of the basement.  Both figuratively and literally.

Who we are

If you’re like us you have no shortage of todos. You’ve got e-mails to respond to, documents to review, voice messages to followup on, honey-do lists, spreadsheets and project plans containing items with your name next to them, and on and on… There are dozens of apps and tools involved.

But how do you keep track of it all? How do you prioritize across all of it? How do you do it when all you’ve got is your phone and a few minutes while the barista makes your double shot two-pump iced mocha (low-fat of course)? Yeah, we know… we have that problem too.
